Bloodgroup are touring! Go and see! Also an update!
Ladies and gentlemen: this is the last ever post on our old blog. Why? Because the finalised website will be live towards the end of this week! So bear with us if www.sonic-iceland.com will be offline in the next few days, we’ll be back with a bang. We promise.
It’s January, and one of our favourite Icelandic electro bands is embarking on a quite extensive European tour. If you’re in the right mind (and you should be, reading this), you’ll go out and catch Bloodgroup when they’re playing near your place. Which they will. In their own words:
“After having released two albums and playing countless gigs in Iceland and abroad, it’s time for Bloodgroup’s first big tour of Europe.
After a mesmerizing performance at this year’s Iceland Airwaves Music Festival, the band’s next stop was a very successful showcase at CMJ Music Festival where they shared the stage whith Moby, Eli “Paperboy” Reed and Questlove (from The Roots). Reviews for CMJ have included phrases such as: “highlight of the night” and “this years The XX”.
Bloodgroup have made it clear that they’re ready to take their show on the road, and this time it’s going to be bigger and better than ever. Geared with their very specially designed live setup with lots of electronics, soaring synths and two front singers, male and female, their show is sure to make everybody rethink of what is possible to do with a fully electronic live setup. Their shows drift from dark and moody melancholia, to some hard kick in your gut party electronica. Don’t expect to be leaving the venue without a drop of sweat.”
We can confirm that every word is true (hell, they once even played a full set almost exclusively for Sonic Iceland and a 3-year-old kid and gave everything). Here are the tour dates:
